Shooting Our Mouths Off

While we know Saul best for what he brings to James, his creative interests have always stretched far beyond the band. From composing to collaborating on ambitious live projects, he’s constantly finding new ways to bring music to life. His latest sees him helping to curate The People’s Stage, a special celebration of the music and legacy of David Bowie, hosted by John Robb at Blackpool Opera House on Sunday 26th July.

Working alongside Spencer Phillips and long-time collaborator Joe Duddell, Saul has helped bring together an incredible line-up of artists for what promises to be a unique evening of music, spoken word and performance, all supporting Blackpool’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2029.

The line-up has just got even stronger, with the announcement that KT Tunstall will be joining the bill. She’ll perform alongside the legendary Hallé Orchestra, with every artist putting their own spin on a classic David Bowie song before treating the audience to some of their own best-known material.

Also appearing are Jack Savoretti, Little Boots, Rae Morris, Tom Burke, spoken word performances from Simon Armitage and Nathan Parker, Northern Soul favourite Darrell Smith, Blackpool’s Electric Pink Voices LGBTQ+ Choir, and, of course, an All-Star House Band featuring musicians from James, The Stone Roses and The Courteeners. There are also a few surprise guests promised on the night.

The People’s Stage takes place at Blackpool Opera House on Sunday 26th July, from 7pm until 9:30pm, and the best part is that it’s completely free. There are 2,500 tickets available, with places being allocated through a public ballot. If successful, you will have 24 hours to secure your tickets and complete a £5 admin fee.
